Clear Command UNIX


Clear command is used to clear the terminal on which the user is working.

clears your screen if this is possible. It looks in the environment for the terminal type and then in the terminfo database to figure out how to clear the screen.

Some terminals can clear also their scrollback buffer to prevent access to potentially sensitive data. If the terminfo entry for the terminal type contains extended capability E3 clear will use it to clear the scroll-back buffer


No Options are available with clear command in UNIX


While working on terminal user wants to clear the screen for better visibility, they can use clear command. After using the command user will be directed to 1st line of the terminal window.

$ clear
